Start with the Scoping Sheet

Page 2 of the kit, and the place to begin. Four boxes take a new project from the business problem to the value story.

Box 1

The business problem

What are you solving, and what number proves it? The problem in one sentence, the metric you'll move, and where it stands today.

Box 2

The campaign

How will you engage people beyond an LMS assignment? Channels, field champions, how you'll build excitement first, and the launch window.

Box 3

The data and the partner

Who's your partner for the relevant data? The data you need, who owns it, what they care about, and when you'll ask.

Box 4

The value story

How do you frame value for different stakeholders? Top line, bottom line, or protecting the business; who hears it first; and your one sentence.

Why Start with the Number

Training gets funded when it moves a number someone already cares about. Most learning projects start with the content and go looking for the business case later, which is backwards. The sheet makes you name the metric first, find the person who owns the data, and decide how you'll tell the story to each stakeholder.

It also pushes the campaign past the LMS. An assignment gets completions, while huddles, manager toolkits, coaching, and field comms get behavior change, and the sheet asks you to plan those before launch, not after.

Common Questions

Is the kit free?

Yes. Download it, fill it in, share it with your team.

Do I have to use the whole kit?

No. Start with the Campaign Scoping Sheet on page 2. It stands on its own as a one-page quick start, and the rest of the kit is there when the campaign gets going.

Can you help us run the campaign?

That's what we do. Learning Strategy covers the planning; the rest of our L+D Services cover the build and the rollout.
